On returning home, I offered my services and as I had

been thirteen years in the Army and desired to qualify for an

Army Pension I offered my services for a further period in order to make up in all twenty one years' service in the Army.

The Army Authorities refused to accept me for a term of years and I was formally discharged on 16th February, 1916. Under the new Act,

however, I am compelled again to join the Army, but only for the duration of the War. I have all along been willing to do my bit for my country and my object in writing to you is to ask if you would be so kind as to grant me a continuance of the promised monthly allowance of £10. 5/- immediately on my entering Military Service again.

I thought it necessary to give you those particulars and am hopeful that I shall receive from you at your early convenierce a favourable reply.

I am,etc.,

(SD.) J. Miller.
